Why Morocconia?

We are products of our environment, therefore as a Moroccan who grew up consuming content coming from the Western world, I came up with the idea to mashup the place where I'm from -Morocco- and the place that inspires me mainly -California-; which is incidentally one of the epicenters of the Western world, especially when it comes to street fashion and lifestyle trendsetting. The result is Morocconia, an imaginary country where the two worlds are constantly intertwining the Moorish aesthetics with Western popular imagery.

 لماذا مُرُكونيا ؟

نحن نتناول ما يحيط بنا ، لذلك كمغربي يتجه نحو العالم الغربي ، توصلت إلى فكرة تجميع المكان الذي أنتمي إليه - المغرب - والمكان الذي يلهمني بشكل رئيسي - كاليفورنيا - ؛ التي هي بالمناسبة واحدة من المراكز الرئيسية في العالم الغربي ، وخاصة عندما يتعلق الأمر الموضة والأزياء العصرية. والنتيجة هي أن مُرُكونيا بلد وهمي حيث يتشابك العالمان باستمرار بين جماليات مغاربي وصور شعبية غربية.
